MG 00 Seven Sword/G

This is a commission kit for a client, I am also currently painting a MG OVA Banshee for the same client.

After waiting a few weeks for the decal set to arrive from Hong Kong I was finally able to finish this kit this week! The 00 Seven Sword/G was a fun kit to build, but I think I prefer the symmetrical design of the 00 Raiser over the Asymmetrical design of the SS/G. Although the SS/G does not seem to suffer from the same back-heaviness as it's sister suit the Raiser.

When building this kit I surprised by the shear size of some of the weapons. I expected the GN Buster Sword II to be massive, but I wasn't expecting the GN Sword II Long to be just as long, or the GN Sword II Blaster to be nearly as wide. This mobile suit is nearly dwarfed by it's massive weapons!

HG Byarlant Custom

Paint Guide:

I went a bit off of the beaten track with this kit and did custom color scheme. Although it took a few attempts to find a color group I liked.

The main body is a 50/50 mix of azure and sky blue. The frame is gun metal, I also mixed an enamel gunmetal from silver and black for the vent and body detailing. The camo colors are both a mix of white, blue, green and a hint of grey. The remaining detail parts are either 100% yellow or a green mixed from yellow and skyblue.

Most of the vent details were hand painted instead of being airbrushed.

Mod Guide:

I performed some very slight modification to this kit fixing seams and separating parts. You can see some of the process photos here.

Decals:
The decal job on this kit is pretty light compared to what I normally do. The decals on this kit are from a Samuel Decal set for the MG ReZel Commander and a Bandai MG Wing set.

Onto the photos!

Weekend WIP

Hey guys back with another WIP update. I made a lot of good progress on several kits this weekend.

1/48 Zeta Display Head

I have completely assembled the 1/48 Zeta Gundam Head Display. I really love the way these 'head display' kits look. I would be so happy if Bandai eventually commits to making a line of large scale polystyrene gundam model heads in 1/24 or 1/35 scale.

The panel lining and detailing of this kit is fantastic

New Contest OOBBO. Out of the Box Blast Off!

I'm starting another contest!

It's been a while since I've any sort of contest on my blog, so I figure it's time to have a little fun!

I'm able to hold this contest thanks in part to the people that purchase items from Amazon through the links provided on my website. Hopefully that traffic will keep up so I can offer more prizes more often for more contests and giveaways!

I'm calling this contest OOBBO and that stands for Out of Box Blast Off!
Like the name suggests this build off is for out of the box builds only!

Why out of the box builds?

It should be pretty clear looking at my site that I have a very special place in my heart for clean out of the box kits!

Is there a prize?

Yes!

Well what is it?

It's a newer HG kit (or maybe something better). But I'm keeping it a surprise until later into the contest! You'll just have to enter if you want to win!

Who's eligible to enter?

Anyone who is currently following my blog, or follows my blog between now and the sign up deadline! To follow my blog simply click the 'join this site' in the upper right hand corner of my blog. You can sign up with a google, yahoo or twitter account!

Sign up for the contest by leaving a comment below using the same member account you used the join my blog. Participants that signup without following my blog will be disqualified I'm afraid!

When you leave a comment please include the name of the model you will be entering in the contest.

Registration is due by Thursday February 28th.

What are the rules?

You can build any HG kit for this competition (this includes 1/00 HGs as well as 1/144).
Kits must be from a gundam series, no zoids/kotobukiya/frame arms/armored cores/etc!

  • Do's
    • Paint (custom schemes are totally okay!)
    • Decal (mix and match from other kits if you want)
    • Panel Line
    • Seam Lines (putty is okay)
    • Weathering (painting or dry brushing)
  • Don'ts
    • Scribe pane lines
    • Pla-plate
    • Kitbash
    • Battle damage (damaging the plastic)
Basically you can do anything you want to the kit, so long as it doesn't change the underlying plastic.

I prefer that whatever kit you're entering into this contest, hasn't already been built and painted. I have no easy way to verify so you're on the honor system.

Submit three photos of your kit at least one needs to feature your kit with a notecard with the name you're entering under for verification.

All submission are due by Midnight April 21st.

You can submit your final photos to me at my email address.

I live outside of the US. Can I still participate?

Sure you can! But you may need to pay for a portion of the shipping cost if you win.

How will my entry be judged?

I'll be judging your kits based on two criteria; which are the overall quality and cleanliness of your build. I will also take the quality and clarity of your photos into account (so make em fancy!)

HG Byarlant update

I'm currently waiting for paint and decals to come in for the MG Banshee and 00 Seven Sword respectively; so I had a bit of time to work on one of my kits. When I resumed this kit on Friday, the navy blue parts need to be stripped and repainted. As of 12:30 AM Sunday here's what they Byarlant looks like.

00 Seven Sword/G now with Panel lines

None of the 00 kits have a real abundance of panel lines, but the panel lines they do have really improve the overall look. The 00 is going to get shelved for a few days while I wait for it's decals to show up.

Stay tuned as I dive into the MG Banshee OVA!

00 Seven Sword/G WIP

It feels like it's been a while since I've posted anything of substance! And free time has been in scarce quantity lately.

However I have made some really good progress on the 00.

It's fully painted at this point, all that's left is to panel line, decal and topcoat the kit.
