HIRM God Gundam

Introduction:

The HIRM God Gundam is the second HIRM model I’ve built and the first HIRM I’ve completed. After building the body of the Wing Zero Custom, I was so frustrated with the quality of the model I didn’t bother to finish the weapons. I ended up giving that model away to a Patron. Fortunately, since then it seems like Bandai has really improved the quality of this line of models.

I remember hearing some whining about the proportions (specifically the thighs and abs) from a minority of people when this model was first announced. But, I don’t mind, this God Gundam seems to be ‘blursed’ by the same sort of exaggerated anatomy of your average JoJo or Baki character.

This model was provided to me for free by JoJoHobbyNStuff. If you would like to support me and the great folks at JoJo hop on over to their site and use coupon code “GoodGunpla” to save 10% off just about everything on site including this awesome model!

Kit Talk:

Like all of the HIRM models so far the God Gundam has a preassembled inner-frame. I pulled about 90% of my frame apart to clean up the gate marks, flash, etc. I figured this would also make painting the inner frame easier too. The frame is perhaps the roughest part of this kit due to being preassembled in China. It’s not particularly well sanded so expect some mandatory cleanup around the gate marks and molding flash.

I went back and forth on the color scheme quite a bit with this kit. I initially planned on a very clean and simple color scheme by eliminating the off white parts and painting all of the frame the same color. However, I ultimately decided to use multiple colors on the frame, and two colors of white.

Color Guide:

White 1: Gaia White
White 2: Nazca Steel White
Blue: Gaia Cobalt Blue, Pinch of Gaia Bright Pink
Red: Gaia Bright Red
Yellow: Gaia Yellow & Gaia Orange Yellow
Gray: Gaia Neutral Gray #5
Black: Gaia Black
Metal: Gaia Gunmetal
Green: Gaia Clear Green over a base of Gaia Silver

    1. Almost everything can be pulled apart. You're going to need a screw driver and a spudger to take it apart without breaking anything.

  2. How did you paint this kit, especially the inner frame? I read that POM plastic cannot be painted. Also, did you strip the factory gloss first or laid primer down directly? I got a Wing Zero Custom HiRM.
