Perfect Grade Gundam 00 Raiser

Introduction:

The PG 00 has been a long term project for a little over two years. I started the build during our move to Texas in 2018. I brought one kit with me during the move to work on. And for the two weeks we lived in our leaky, buggy Air BNB I put this kit together. Then, I put it away for about a year.

The PG 00 isn't a 'bad' kit, but I think it focuses on the wrong things. The armor is not well detailed, there are a lot of seamlines on the 0 Raiser. Also, the missiles and other equipment they included for the 0 Raiser seem more like 'busy work' than a 'bonus detail'. The locking joint gimmick on the kit is a neat idea, but ultimately an unnecessary one that causes more problems than it solves.

If you're in the market for a 00 Gundam, do yourself a favor and buy the MG or RG version of the kit. Both of these are currently available at my favorite hobby store JoJoHobbyNStuff where you can use coupon code 'GoodGunpla' to save 10% off of your order!

Kit Talk:

I spent a lot of time on this kit re-scribing detail across the design. There isn't a ton of detail on the model, so I wanted to preserve or enhance what was present. Decals from this kit are taken from Gundam Decal sets 77 and 78. For some reason, Bandai decided to release sets for the 00 Gundam and 0 Raiser separately.

I disassembled the GN drives to paint all of the components individually. It worked, and the drives still light up and spin. But, I don't recommend doing it.

I also made the effort to track down an official version of the stand. For some reason, Bandai decided that the stand would be a limited item for the first run of the kit. I know that 3rd party stands are available, but I feel like this version makes it 'complete'.
