Star Wars 1/144 Millennium Falcon (Lando's Version from Solo)

Introduction:

During November 2020 my Discord group decided to do a 'ships of the line' group build. And, as the name suggests we all built some type of 'ship'. I built three 'starships' for the event: an A-Wing, X-Wing, and Lando's version of the Millennium Falcon. Each ship presented some unique and interesting challenges and each ship presented me with new opportunities to practice old and new skills out.

I picked this kit up from JoJoHobbyNStuff where you can save 10% off of your order using coupon code 'GoodGunpla'!

Kit Talk:

I started the group build with this kit. I don't think Lando's version of the Millennium Falcon gets much love from fans. I think a large part of that is due to the backlash against Last Jedi, and the subsequent drop in audience attendance for Solo. Personally, I really like Lando's version. It's the 'hotrod' to Han's 'ratrod' version. The "racing stripes" on the hull are really cool and it was fun painting this up as a much cleaner, less patched up version of the Falcon. There is still some weathering in the form of pastels and washes, but it's way more minimal compared to the dirtier versions I've done over the years.

I fused the escape pod into the front mandibles, and I also fused the hatch covering the connection point to the stand on the scape pod since it wouldn't be needed.
